Sighting: "V" at Starbucks

Chicago Flag Knuck

When my barista has a single Chicago flag knuck, I have to ask for a photo. And I also entirely understand if they don’t have time for an interview.

Sightings: the Flag in Illinois

Friend of the blog Stephanie Hoerner sent in this shot from what she described as a “Cubs fan on the Red Line” (it’s from last summer, which would explain short sleeves on the train).

Sightings: George

We were headed back to our car after the nighttime Rave Run 5K downtown and I spotted those distinctive stars on the back of another runner’s arm in front of me. It was late, I was tired, he had kids with him, and I was shy, so I didn’t ask for a full interview. But I got a couple of photos and a first name. Thanks, George, and rock on with your Chicago flag tattoo.

Sightings: Chicago Triathlon SuperSprint

Chicago Triathlon SuperSprint - photo by Erica Gerdes

I don't want the site to turn into just a photo blog; actually talking to people about their tattoos is going to be our focus. But it's also true that it's not always going to be feasible to interview everyone with cool Chicago Flag tattoos that we see. Case in point, CFT's Erica Reid got this shot of an athlete at the Chicago Triathlon SuperSprint this last weekend just before he was about to plunge into Lake Michigan.

About CFT

We love all sorts of Chicago-related tattoos and love interviewing the people who have them. If you've got one or know someone who does, please let us know at to arrange an interview.

If you just want to send in a photo, we always love to know:

  • What is about Chicago that made you want to get your tattoo?
  • Where did you get it done?
  • May we use your full name on the site?
  • If possible, we'd love to see a photo of you and not just your tattoo. Check out some of the interviews on the site to see what we mean.
